Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Christmas Trees

When my kids were young we made these candy Christmas trees every year. They are quick to assemble, can be decorated in many ways, and make great gifts or stocking stuffers. Whether you choose stacked unwrapped candies or glue wrapped candies together, these little trees are cheerful and easy to customize.

Ingredients Needed

For either style you’ll need a few simple items. Quantities depend on how many trees you plan to make and what sizes you want.

  • Reese’s cups – minis, miniature and regular; milk or white chocolate work well.
  • Chocolate chips or chocolate/candy melts for the top layer if desired.
  • Icing – white and green cookie icing or piping gel for decoration.
  • Hershey Kisses for the tree top (or any pointed candy).
  • Assorted sprinkles – stars, nonpareils, or festive Christmas sprinkles.

You can make mini, medium, or large trees using different sizes and combinations of cups.

  • Place a mini white chocolate cup upside down on your work surface.
  • Add a small dot of white icing on top, then place a chocolate miniature cup on top of that.
  • Add another dot of icing and stack a mini chocolate cup above it.
  • Top the stack with a chocolate chip or small candy, securing with a final dab of icing.
  • Pipe or squeeze green icing around the outside in a spiral from bottom to top to resemble branches.
  • Press sprinkles into the icing for ornaments, then place a star sprinkle on the very top.
  • Allow the icing to set for 5–10 minutes before handling or packaging.

Variations & Tips

  • Try different Reese’s: Milk, white, or dark chocolate cups all work — mix colors for a playful look.
  • Switch up the decoration: Use colored icing, melted chocolate, or candy melts for a different texture and finish. Let kids choose colors and sprinkles to personalize each tree.
  • Top choice: Hershey Kisses are ideal for a pointed top, but any small pointed candy will do.

Wrapped Candy Christmas Trees (No Decorating Required)

If you prefer a very quick option that makes a cute, gift-ready treat, leave candies in their wrappers and glue them together to form trees. This method is especially good for classroom treats, gift bags, or stocking stuffers.

How To Make Wrapped Candy Christmas Trees

These use a glue gun to attach wrapped candies in a stack.

  • Preheat a hot glue gun and work carefully—this step is for adults or supervised older children.
  • Place a Rolo with the flat end up and add a dab of hot glue to the top.
  • Quickly press a mini Reese’s (wrapper on) onto the glue with its flat side up and hold until set.
  • Add another dab of glue and a second mini Reese’s on top of the first, then top with a wrapped Hershey Kiss, holding each layer in place until the glue sets.
  • Optional: glue a small decorative bow to the front where the layers meet for a festive finish.
