Red, White & Blue Truffles for 4th of July Celebrations

These 4th of July truffles are a festive and delicious treat—think miniature, edible fireworks. White chocolate Lindt truffles are dipped in red and blue candy melts, then finished with sprinkles and a touch of cotton candy “smoke.” They’re simple to assemble, smell amazing, and make a fun, patriotic dessert for summer parties.

Ingredients and supplies:

  • White chocolate Lindt truffles
  • Red candy coating (melts)
  • Blue candy coating (melts)
  • Red and blue sugar sprinkles
  • Star-shaped sprinkles
  • Red licorice lace (small pieces)
  • Blue cotton candy (for the “smoke”)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the red and blue candy coatings separately in two microwavable bowls, following the package directions for heating and stirring.
  2. Hold a truffle by the base or use a fork and dip it into the blue candy melts so roughly one third of the truffle is covered. Set the dipped truffle on parchment paper to set.
  3. After the blue coating has set, turn the truffle over and dip the opposite end into the red candy coating. Tap gently to remove excess coating and return to the parchment to dry completely.
  4. Use a small dab of melted candy coating to attach a short piece of red licorice lace to the top of each truffle—this creates the look of a fuse or wick.
  5. Gently place a small tuft of blue cotton candy on top as “smoke” just before serving so it stays fluffy and light.

Tips and variations:

  • For a bolder look, fully dip truffles in one color and immediately roll them in sprinkles while the coating is still wet.
  • Mix star-shaped sprinkles with colored sugar for extra patriotic flair.
  • Get creative with patterns—drizzle the opposite color over a dipped truffle for a marbled effect.
  • Add the cotton candy only at the last moment to prevent it from dissolving into the coating.

These patriotic truffles are quick to make, visually striking, and perfect for a 4th of July dessert table. Enjoy a sweet, star-spangled snack that’s as fun to decorate as it is to eat.

Now these 4th of July truffles are my kind of fireworks—sweet, easy, and crowd-pleasing.
