Refreshing Mixed Berry Smoothie Recipe for Quick Energy

Pregnancy is a deeply emotional and often challenging season. I’m currently on my fourth pregnancy, and while the joy of welcoming a new baby is constant, there are days when the discomfort is overwhelming. For me, the toughest part has always been persistent morning sickness that can last throughout pregnancy.

Some women experience mild or no nausea, but others contend with it for months. Over the years I’ve learned strategies that help, and one helpful discovery has been finding alternatives to large prenatal pills that are difficult to swallow.

One of the hardest parts for me has always been those oversized prenatal vitamins. I struggle to swallow big pills, so I was happy to find Premama. Premama offers prenatal and postnatal vitamin drink mixes designed for pregnant and breastfeeding women who prefer not to take pills.

I mix the Premama Vitamin Drink Mix into smoothies or into yogurt, which avoids the pill issue entirely. The mix is unflavored, so it doesn’t change the taste of my food. Premama suggests adding the packets to smoothies or parfaits rather than just water, and they recommend not heating the supplement to preserve its nutrients.

Here’s my go-to smoothie for mixing in the Premama supplement:

Berry Smoothie

Berry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Greek or Australian yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons cream
  • Handful of berries — raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, or a mix

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Add a Premama powder packet and stir or blend briefly so it dissolves evenly. Serve chilled.

Premama’s drink mixes deliver folic acid levels comparable to many prescription prenatal vitamins and leading over-the-counter brands. They also include Omega-3 fatty acids and a non-constipating form of iron often found only in prescription prenatal multivitamins, making them a convenient option for women who prefer a powdered supplement.

Premama offers products for women at every stage — from fertility support for those trying to conceive to prenatal and lactation supplements for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Their range makes it easier to find a formula that fits your needs and preferences.

I’m especially looking forward to trying the Lactation support after my baby arrives. After cesarean deliveries my milk sometimes takes longer to come in, and I’ve used fenugreek in the past to help boost supply. Premama’s lactation formula includes fenugreek along with other supportive ingredients, which I appreciate.

If you’re trying to conceive, pregnant, or nursing, consider exploring Premama’s product line to see if a drink mix supplement might be a better fit than swallowing large prenatal pills.
