Good morning! How is your New Year going so far? If you’re planning healthier eating as a resolution, this quick breakfast is perfect. Try my Tropical Orange Colada smoothie bowl — creamy, bright and ready in about two minutes with just four ingredients.

This bowl is dairy‑free, vegan, and gluten‑free. Packed with citrus flavor, vitamin C and fiber, the Orange Colada smoothie bowl brings a touch of the tropics to even the coldest winter mornings.

I’ll admit I’m over the cold and dreaming of spring; meanwhile I pretend it’s warm and savor every spoonful of this indulgent yet healthy bowl.

Mornings can be a struggle during winter; getting out of bed and making breakfast often feels like a chore. Smoothie bowls are my go‑to because they come together fast, and this one is especially simple. It literally takes two minutes to make.

Just combine Simply Orange juice, coconut yogurt, frozen banana chunks and fresh pineapple in a high‑speed blender and you’ll have a thick, smooth base in no time.

Simply Orange juice makes it easy to add vitamin C and fiber to my morning. It’s 100% pure orange juice, not from concentrate; I love the high‑pulp variety for the real orange bits.

Cutting fresh pineapple or pomegranate can be time consuming, so I use Fresh Cut Fruit from my local Safeway to speed things up. It saves time and makes whipping this bowl effortless.

I finish the bowl with extra fresh fruit, unsweetened coconut flakes, a handful of nuts and a sprinkle of seeds. A few edible flowers make it look pretty and tropical.

On a recent Safeway run to stock pantry essentials, I picked up Simply Orange juice and a Fresh Cut Fruit bowl. I also grabbed a Tropical POWERADE and fruit punch vitaminwater for the post‑workout cooler. Right now Safeway is running a promotion: buy $15 worth of participating Coca‑Cola items and get $4 off your Fresh Cut Fruit via a coupon printed on your receipt.

Fresh Cut Fruit is typically available on Safeway endcap displays. After an intense workout or boot camp we enjoy these fresh fruits along with POWERADE or vitaminwater to rehydrate and refuel.

Ingredients

  • For smoothie base
  • ½ cup Simply Orange juice (or more to adjust consistency)
  • 2 frozen bananas, cut into chunks
  • ½ cup coconut yogurt
  • ½ cup fresh cut pineapple
  • For topping
  • Assorted fresh cut fruits
  • A handful of walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower seeds
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened coconut flakes
  • Edible flowers (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a high‑speed blender, combine all ingredients listed for the smoothie base and blend until smooth.
  2. Adjust the consistency by adding more Simply Orange juice if desired.
  3. Divide into two bowls and top with your chosen fruits, nuts and seeds.

Notes

Use frozen bananas for a very thick, spoonable smoothie bowl; fresh bananas will yield a looser consistency. Choose your favorite fruit and nut toppings and any yogurt you prefer. I used Fresh Cut Fruit (strawberries, pineapple and pomegranate) from Safeway.
